Levels
What you're actually expected to be able to do at each level — no vague labels.
A2 · Elementary
Basic real-life communication
By the end of A2, you should be able to handle simple, everyday exchanges without freezing — the foundation everything else builds on.
- Introduce yourself and understand basic personal questions
- Handle everyday requests: shopping, directions, ordering food
- Understand slow, clear speech on familiar topics
- Describe simple things about your daily life
B1 · Intermediate
Independent conversation
B1 is where conversation stops being scripted. You start improvising — expressing opinions and reacting to the unexpected, with a real native speaker in Real Mode (1-on-1).
- Express opinions and give reasons, not just facts
- Handle unexpected turns in a conversation without shutting down
- Navigate routine situations (work, social, logistics) independently
- Sustain a real one-on-one conversation with a native speaker
B2 · Upper-Intermediate
Professional & group communication
B2 introduces group dynamics — Team Challenge puts you in a 2-vs-2 setup, so you're not just speaking English, you're coordinating and negotiating in it.
- Communicate clearly under group pressure, not just one-on-one
- Negotiate and coordinate with teammates in real time
- Express more nuanced, less black-and-white ideas
- Handle disagreement or friction in a group setting in English
C1 · Advanced
Executive-level, high-stakes communication
C1 is the hardest tier by design. XLEMETY Live puts you in front of a native who actively pushes back, interrupts, and switches roles — boss, client, panel — the way real high-stakes conversations actually feel.
- Persuade, defend a position, and handle direct pushback
- Adapt your tone and approach depending on who you're speaking to
- Stay composed and articulate when interrupted or challenged
- Communicate with the fluency expected in senior professional settings
